This past weekend the United States Field Target National Match was held at the Good Ole Boy’s Airgun Club in Pulaski, Tn. The match was held on the property owned by Roz Sumpter. As usual, Roz was a fantastic host and did a superb job of coordinating all of the fine details for the match. David Slade was the Co-Match Director and also did many, many hours of exhaustive work to make the match happen.
Today I am posting a few pictures of each winner in their respective classes from the National Field Target Match. I thought that this might put a face with some of the names that you hear about from time to time. We have about 400 or so more pictures that I will be posting in the next few days, so be sure and check back for the action shots in a few days.
Thanks for visiting our site! See you here again soon…

Once again we had a great Field Target Match at the TVA Airgun Club in Huntsville, AL. Our gracious host, Donnie Ross, just has a perfect place for Field Target at his family farm. The match was last Saturday and actually consisted of two separate matches. The first was a 30 shot Hunter Field Target Match and the Second was the Traditional 60 shot Field Target Match.

Today was our first official Field Target match of 2007 at the TVA airgun club in Huntsville, Alabama. The day consisted of two separate matches. The first was a super fun, 30 shot, Hunter Field Target Match. The second was a traditional 60 shot Field Target Match. The match was held on the Ross property that is provided by the family of Donnie Ross of Huntsville, AL. The match director was Brad Troyer and both courses were challenging and tons of fun…

The 2007 Cajun Classic Field Target Match was held this past weekend and it was GREAT! Anyone that missed this match really missed a treat. The guys in Baton Rouge did a fantastic job of coordination a great match. From the two separate 50 shot courses to the great food, I think it would be hard to top the fun and fellowship that we all enjoyed this past weekend.
I always enjoy seeing friends from around the country when attending a regional Field Target Match. The 2007 Cajun Classic Field Target Match was certainly no exception. We were able to have dinner with friends on a couple of occasions while in Baton Rouge and enjoy talking airguns in between. What more could you ask for, great food, great friends and shooting airguns!

I have been trying to get ready this week for the Cajun Classic Field Target match that is coming up next weekend. So, actually I started back in January by sending my favorite springer to Paul Watts for his advanced tune work. My rifle is a TX200 MK II in .177 cal. It has a custom Maccari Walnut stock that I purchased on another TX and swapped out to this one. I have also added a small riser to the rifle to raise it up about an additional inch when I shoot off my knee in the Field Target position. The rifle is fitted with a Bushnell Elite 4200 series, 8-32×40 scope. This scope has been a very repeatable optics system on my spring guns in the past.

Yesterday I wrote a bit about why Field Target is so additictive. Well, I’ve got a few more pictures that I thought I’d post today from Field Target Matches last year. I have been going through my airgun and field target pictures to see what was unique from last years season. I’ve got a few generic pictures from some of the local matches below along with some field target equipment that I found to be interesting.
I have to admit that a couple of the pictures below are not specifically field target related. Some are just plan cool guns that I ran across here and there on the net. But, you will get the point of how they could be used in field target…
Well, here they are! Hope you all enjoy…
Happy Shooting!

Why is Field Target so addictive? That is a question that I hear from my friends on a regular basis. Well, that is a good question. I think that Field Target is addictive for many reasons. First, we use such cool equipment in our sport of Field Target. Just take a look at all of the different models of airguns used at the next Field Target match that you attend… It is amazing to see the neat things that are adapted to each individual’s rifle. Also, every Field Target match has it’s own special difficulties that keep us coming back. It is a sport that is the easiest thing to learn, yet the hardest thing to perfect.
Last year I was at the Field Target Nationals in Connecticut. It was a great match, but a big part of the fun was just looking at all of the cool rifles, gun totes, seats and equipment. I also attended a lot of other matches throughout the Southeast last year and at everyone I saw something cool that was worth noting. While at those Field Target matches, I took some pictures of the Field Target rigs that I thought were neat. It is a lot of fun now to look back at those rigs and get ideas for some of my upcoming projects. I thought that most of you would also enjoy seeing some of those neat Field Target rigs, so I posted some pictures of those below.

Todays match at Roz Sumpter’s was a blast as usual. There were about 25 or so shooters there and the course was a real challenge. I would have to say that the wind and cool temperature played a heavy factor in the overall difficulty of the course. The match was recorded for a Tennessee Outdoor Television Show to be run later this year to help promote the upcoming World Field Target Match at Roz’s in October.

I haven’t had a lot of time to catch up my blog here due to a lot of demands from my business. But, it’s nearing Field Target Season again here in the south and I’ve been thinking more and more about shooting. Unfortunately right now my favorite Air Arms TX 200 is gone for a complete Advanced Tune by Paul Watts. It’s not unfortunate that Paul is going to make her shoot better, it’s just unfortunate that I don’t have my favorite rifle around to get ready for the fast approaching Field Target Season. However, I have been working on a newly acquired Falcon FN19! Read the rest of this entry »
